Ans. The mixtures, the moulders and those who bakes the loaves are the persons who are involved in making loaves of bread. They are called Padres. In the Portuguese days, they used to wear a special dress known as Kabai.

Ans The family business of making loaves of bread is  still going on. May be the father is not alive but the son still carries on the family profession. And, he and his family look happy and prosperous

Ans. A Baker was seen as a friend , a companion and a guide by the children of Goa.It was the jingling and  thud of . his bamboo that made them get up. He brought the bread bangles for the kids.

Ans The writer used to get up on listening the jingling thud of the bamboo of the Baker. Then he ran to meet and greet him. He did not mind his mild rebuke too. Thus he used to welcome the Baker.

        A party losses its charm if there is no bread in it. Thus the presence of a Baker,s  furnace is almost essential in a village in Goa.
