Short & Long Qus. Answer

------------------------------------------------------
Qus.1 How did a book become a turning point in Ebright 's  life ?
Ans. When Richard Ebright was in second grade . His mother had presented him a book titled . ' the travel or monarch X .' This book developed an interest in young Ebright towards butterflies and changed his life .

Qus.2 How did his mother help him?
Ans. His mother was his only companion . She used to spend time with him and encouraged his interest in learning . She took him on trips, bought him telescopes microscopes, cameras, mounting materials and other equipment and helped him in many other ways .

Qus.3 What lesson does Ebright learn when he does not win anything at a science fair ?
Ans. Ebright learnt that only displaying of things was not sufficient. Experiment was the most important thing .

Qus.4 Who were the important people in Ebright' s life ? and why ?
Ans. The important people in Ebright' s life were his mother , Dr. Urquhart and Mr. Weihere . They encouraged him .

Qus. 5 How did Ebright get an answer to one of biology 's puzzles: how the cell can  'read ' the blueprint of its DNA ?
Ans. X- ray photos of the chemical structure of a hormone gave him the answer to one biology' s puzzles: how the cell can' read ' the blueprint of its DNA .

Qus.6 when did Ebright start collecting things ? What did he collect ?
Ans. Ebright started collecting things because he could not play football or basketball . He collected rocks , fossils and coins .

Qus.7 Write a character sketch of Richard Ebright ?
Ans. Character sketch of Richard Ebright------ Richard Ebright was a young scientist .At the age of 22 , he earned name and fame . He worked on butterflies and generated the theory of DNA which is widely used now . He was a very hard working and brilliant scientist .In the beginning , he faced many failures but he did not give up . He was not only a scientist but also a champion senator ,a public speaker .

Qus.8 "Failure" should be our teacher not our under taker ." Justify this statement with reference of the chapter .
Ans. Failures are the stepping stone s to success .It is seen that most of the people give up their efforts when they face failures . They become hopeless . But just opposite to them are those who learn a lot from the mistakes they make . They keep on trying and ultimately lead to success . Just as Richard did . When he lost the competitions , he did not give up .But he learnt the things and finally became successful .

Qus.9 Which research did Ebright begin in his second year in high school ? Which new theoryI'd it lead to  ?
Ans. In his second year Ebright began to research .It led to his discovery of an unknown insect hormone . If led to his new theory on the life of cells . Ebright tried to answer the question, wha is the requirement of the twelve tiny gold spots on a monarch pupa ? Everyone thought that the spots were just ornamental .But Dr.  Urquhart did not believe it . Ebright and an other science student built a device that showed that the spots were producing a hormone . This project won Ebright first place in the county fair and entry into the International Science and Engineering fair . There he won third place for zoology .

Qus.10 What are the qualities that go into the making of a scientist ?
Ans. These qualities are first- rate mind, curiosity and will to win for the right reason .
